Tsunami: Eat, Pray, Love

She referred to the starting letter of the counties as herself, the I. Ang bawat chapter ng libro ay nagtatapos sa linyang: Eat, Pray, Love.

Favorite parts:

  • Obviously, she loves to eat (pastas, pizzas and the Italian Language) and all the searching for reataurants where she can have the best of the bests.
  • The pray took in India fighting with her own self. She finds meditaton very hard in the Ashram and hated the early morning meditation. In contrary to the foreign reviews that the book lagged down in India, for me this is the best part. This is the part where forgiveness took place (on her husband) with the help of her friend poet/plumber from New Zealand. The poet/plumber from New Zealand gave her a piece of paper entitled “Instructions for Freedom” and she left Liz at the rooftop of Ashram.

Instructions for Freedom:

  1. Life’s metaphors are God’s instructions.
  2. You have just climbed up and above the roof. There is nothing between you and the infinite. Now, let go.
  3. The day is ending. It’s time for something that was beautiful to turn into something else that is beautiful. Now, let go.
  4. Your wish for resolution was a prayer. Your being here is God’s response. Let go, and watch the stars come out – on the outside and on the inside.
  5. With all your heart, ask for grace, and let go.
  6. With all your heart, forgive him, FORGIVE YOURSELF and let him go.
  7. Let your intention be freedom from useless suffering. Then, let go.
  8. Watch the heat of day pass into the cool night. Let go.
  9. When the karma of a relationship is done, only love remains. It’s safe. Let go.
  10. When the past has passed from you at last, let go. Then climb down and begin the rest of your life. With great joy.
  • The Instructions for Freedom is so significant that she forgave her husband and the truth is, she recognized what humility is all about… “Dear Lord, please show me everything I need to understand about forgiveness and surrender.”
  • The fact that she acknowledged the communion between man and God and the need for each other is true… “If you bring the right earnestness to your homemade ceremony, God will provide the grace. And that is why we need God…”We have hands; we can stand on them if we want to. That’s our privilege. That’s the joy of being a mortal body. And that’s why God needs us. Because God loves to feel things through our hands.”
  • The love happened in the Land of Paradise, Indonesia. I thought, more than love and balance she found in the arms of Felipe (a Brazilian businessman in Bali) and Indonesia, is the appreciation of life as a whole. The beauty of a flower, the friends she shared with common and not so common interests and the kindness of her being.

When we acknowledged that freedom is the need to God, that’s the time we’ll fully understand the freedom we need. It’s not really the freedom we want, it’s the freedom we need. And it only comes from God and everything will follow. In God’s freedom no frustrations and dissatisfactions.
We could have been casualties of Typhoon Juan or the recent tsunami in Indonesia or victims of violence in the recently Barangay/SK Elections. Live life that is worthy.
We may have all the power, fame and riches but have not loved and sense of gratitude we are nothing.

“In the end, though, maybe we must all give up trying to pay back the people in this world who sustain our lives. In the end, maybe it’s wiser to surrender before the miraculous scope of human generosity and to just keep saying thank you, forever and sincerely, for as long as we have voices.”

Thank you Lord. Thank you to my winged-wingless angels . Thank you to my family and my friends. Thank you to all the bloggers. Thank you for the sunshine and for the rain; to the trees and the planets and universe. Thank you! With or without voice (from the room of my heart), I’ll be forever thankful.

Ikaw din, magpasalamat ka din po ha. Be blessed!

nice thoughts, pong. the only thing that gives meaning to our existence in this world is when we keep in our minds that all should start and end with God.

Let God to be the center of your Life.

    Yosh!!!.. Be bless always… ahehehe..

  14. MD says:

I haven’t seen the movie nor read the book. Dahil sa ni-post mo na ito… i’m gonna buy the book! salamat kuya pong!

  15. J. Kulisap says:

  21. zeb says:

done adding your link….. salamat sa lahat pare….. Godbless you more and more! Peace Out!

  22. Vajarl says:

Una sa lahat, ang God’s instructions ay presupposed at nakuha lang naten based on what we read on the Bible. Or what our local priests and pastors tell us.

Magpapaliwanag nalang ako sa blog ko in the future. Hihi.

  23. Mental Climax says:

the Bible is the manual itself. it tells history, prayers, and teachings.

    • Vajarl says:

Seriously? And you claim that because you’ve met the people who contributed to the making of that bible?

What if you get introduced to Muslims who refers to the Koran as their manual, would you dare tell them that what they believe in is false? There are a number of religions in this world. How can you be so sure that what your bible is telling us is the right one?

I am not attacking you personally. I am just pointing out how senseless people can get when it comes to arguing about anything that is purely based on faith. Which is something we develop individually. Excuse me if I sound so rude but telling people that what your book says should be the reference of people on how to live their life is ridiculous, and disrespectful.

  24. Mental Climax says:

One with faith can never contest to one who does not believe in faith itself. It is not about religion. Every one has his own way of believing. I respect Muslims for what they believe in. I respect you all the more for not believing in anything at all if that is the case.

    • Mental Climax says:

People who refuse to believe in anything always react this way. I never pointed out how Muslims refer to the Koran. I never pointed out that I have met people who contributed to the making of the Bible. But then again, it is all about believing. It is all about how you feel towards your faith. It is all about breathing for a purpose. It is never about wrongdoings and good deeds. It is never about arguing with things like this. I respect anything that you want to believe in because I am just the same species as you are.

      • Vajarl says:

And I respect that you believe in what you believe. But you don’t own the right to go around telling everybody that “The Bible is the manual itself”. You can say that the Bible is your manual, but saying the bible is THE manual makes you a pompous prick.

      • Vajarl says:

And that is also in relation to how you said that the Bible is THE manual. That’s the reason why I brought up the fact that there are a number of religions in this world. Most of them based on faith, and most of them developed faith in something that contradicts what you believe in. I hope you see the point because what you said just now is also a little pointless.

  37. katrinadanieles says:

    gandang araw kuya pong!🙂

  38. athena says:

  39. Ax says:

I already watched the film. Feeling ko mas maganda yung book, sa film kase mabagal yung pacing ng story [for me]. Pero thumbs up sa story. The story is about letting go of things, of “yourself”, and of “what-happened.”

Nag-enjoy ako sa Indonesia part. Enjoy din naman ang Italy and India. Nakapag yoga na rin ako kaya talagang thumbs up ang chill mode if you’re doing yoga! Hoho.

Yay.

  40. Jag says:

Parang gusto kong bumili ng libro nyan…tama ka real freedom is searching ourselves with GOD…

Minsan pala nahihirapan akong maaccess ang blog mo bakit kaya?

  41. Sphere says:

Oist! Pongkie bat wala kang bagong post? anong ginagawa mo? busy kaba? saan? ano? kanino? bakit?

  42. athena says:

slamat sa pagdalaw sa bhay ko.

  43. lio loco says:

ganto na lang: the right of every individual to live comes with the right to believe in what he thinks and feels is the right thing to do. and just as there are millions of people thriving in this macrocosm, so are there millions of unique ideologies and unparalleled idiosyncrasies that will inevitably clash with somebody else’s. the solution then is to find a symmetry and balance between politely mooting on that person’s belief and firmly upholding one’s values.😄

  44. shea says:

    thanks…

  45. Nortehanon says:

Hi Pong! Magandang araw. Hope you’re doing okay, iho.

  46. it’s really inspiring! in everything, we should give thanks!❤

  47. Joyo says:

-“To lose balance sometimes for love is part of living a balanced life.”

-Prayer is a relationship; half the job is mine. If I want transformation, but can’t even be bothered to articulate what, exactly, I’m aiming for, how will it ever occur? Half the benefit of prayer is in the asking itself, in the offering of a clearly posed and well-considered intention. If you don’t have this, all your pleas and desires are boneless, floppy, inert; they swirl at your feet in a cold fog and never lift.

Pong, Smile all the way through. Sabi nga ni ketut smile, even in your liver. Be Blessed!

  48. WP says:
